For over 35 years I have owned vehicles with an accessory position on the ignition switch. On my new 2008, is there an accessory position??? It is not located in front of the stop/remove key like before. The position run (before start) cuts everything on (ignition, fuel pumps, etc.). When just needing to run the radio or another accessory (upfitter switches), where do you need to be? This must be something new, my 2000 F-350, 2003 Cobra, and 2003 Explorer still have this position...
thanks
OK, I read the owners manual and found the Accessory position. The problem I see is the Upfitter switches are not hot except when in run position. THis means the truck would need to be running to use them. I can see why Ford does this that way but it does not work for what I need. I am running four seal beam work lights (two on my deck for ATV loading the other as backup lights for hooking up the trailer) on two switches. I don't need the truck running while I am doing either of these operations. Has anyone re-wired the feed to the Upfitter switches to be hot all the time? I hate to re-wire the switches but hate to add more switches when the truck comes with them. I looked at the schematics and not for sure it I can do this or not. Any help would be appreciated..
thanks
