Accessory position on ignition switch

I purchased a 1999 F-150 SC, and have yet been able to select this position. Is there some trick to it?

It should just turn back. There is either a problem with the tumbler assembly or the switch mechanism.

If someone has had the lockset out they may have moved the gears behind the switch if someone has done this then all you have to do is R&R the ingition lockset and behind it you will see a plastic retaning plate i think usually they are green remove that then there is a metal guide plate that you have to turn and then remove it then you will see two gears - the one where the shaft coming off the lockset goes into is the one you want to pull out and move it ( i cant remember if it goes to the 1st or 2nd tooth ) and then put everything back together and try it . I have seen especially on the ford 10 cut cylinders where the shaft on the back of the cylinder breaks off behind the metal guide plate and sticks in the gear so they pull the gear and then when they put it back in they put it in wrong this is uaually what happens.

Do your doors and ignition use the same key?

let me know

Yes ..my ignition key will also open the door..however, when I bought the truck the guy gave me a metal key, not a black key that has to be programmed..I am not sure what it is for...is it true that if you put in the ignition switch a non programmed key, it will mess up the computer??

oh ok the reason i asked is because if you have remote start they installer will usually take one key and hide it up in the collum so that the computer see the transponser and will allow the vehicle to start does that make sense? did you buy the truck used? if so maybe it does have remote start you just dont know it or have a remote for it??? that would be the only way i know of about by passing the pats system.

as for no acc does the key turn back to the acc possition and there is jst no power or does it not turn back at all???
