Ignition Switch

I have completely disassembled my F1 and am now in the final stages of assembly, new wire harness and all. As I am doing the final wiring check, I have noticed the following and need to know if everything is ok.

With the ignition switch in the Off, Accessory and On position, the starter motor can be actuated by pushing the starter button. Voltage is available at the coil only in the On position. Is this correct?

The above check is a part of my checkout prior to attempting to start the rebuilt flathead. I have added an Offenhauser intake and (2) Schomberg 97's which forced me to change distributors to a mechanical advance. I am currently waiting for a new Mallory to arrive and will then be able to bring the old girl back to life.

Instuments and accessories such as the fan seem to work correctly when actuated by the three positions of the Ignition switch.

This truck was not running when I bought it and I don't have any experience in operating this vehicle and thus have only the operators manual and service manual to go by.

One additional question. I have installed a Carter electric fuel pump. Are other owners installing with or without the isolation dampening option?

Thanks.
Dennis

Well I don't know if it helps but my 55 had power to starter all the time. Key energized coil. I always wanted to change that but instead I installed the key switch out of a newer car. Like a 1960 and I removed the button . Kurt G. Y-blocks rule.

HI Dennis,

Your wiring, starter button and ignition are operating correctly. I don't have an electric fule pump so I'll let someone else answer that portion.

I would be certain, however, to look at the thread at this link and read my precautionary statements on the lower half of post #4
