before I did the SAS on my 95 F150, I did the 1 ton 2wd coil and a set of these:

ALIGNMENT BRACKETS - JCWhitney

It worked well with the 33's for a while until I just had enough with the ttb breaking parts and went with the SAS, chromoly shafts, 4.56 gears. It now sits on a set of 38.5x11 boggers and is my woods/play toy.

yeah for $217 im sure i would be able to find a strait axle.

i think i might just do a body lift for now. ill probly just get some hockey pucks and drill out the middle. Im also gunna be puting a flat bed on the back and then i need to fix up the body.

How hard was it then to do the sas. does it bolt right up, do you use the same front drive shaft??

If you take the yoke out of the ttb and put it on the solid D44, then you can keep your same shaft. There is some fabricating to be done with a SAS. You'll need the radius arm brackets, track bar brackets, and make a steering setup. Check the tech thread stickied at the top of the offroad section and you'll see a few threads that cover what all you need. You may want to check the body lift thread in there before you do the hockey puck deal.....

If you want to go 1 ton, then look for a D60 front and a Sterling 10.25 for the rear. When you go that route, you'll need to decide if you want to stay coil sprung or leaf spring front. For a coiled D60, there is a little more work involved in getting the axle ready and welding on the c's. For a Leaf spring setup, you'll still need to weld up some hangers, but the axle won't need any more work. Start searching around here for ideas, the start saving your money for the parts. When you get in trouble, ask away!

All of the 250 and 350 4x4's had leaf spring up to 05, with the exception of some 250's in the late 90's. The desired front axle is the D60 from the last 70's f350. The spring pads wil lline up straight with your frame rails and all you need to do is fabricate hangers. The later 80's and up D60's, you will need to outboard your springs some to get the axle centered uner the truck. A king pin 60 is stronger than a ball joint axle, but they will usually cost much more if you find one. Look on here as there are several that have done the leaf spring conversion. Ed is one that comes to mind with his 1 ton bronco's, and he posts here quite a bit. Send him a pm with your questions and I'm sure he can help you out.

ED's username is 75F350
Kind of hard to PM him if you don't know his username.

Another person who can help you is 9.Ford.5, he recently did a solid axle swap on his truck aswell.

There are quite a few write up's of the SAS throughout the site, you can hit the search button or you can just look at the few threads on the first, second and third page. If you have any questions you can ask and you'll get an answer pretty quickly.
