CB Antenna Mount

Ive decided that Im moving my cb antenna and I was looking at mounting it to the side of my tool box...I wanna use a metal whip. Ive just curious at what other ppl here have used far as mounts on there rangers toolbox...I know they have the swivel ball mounts and just vertical no ground plane mounts...Just wanted to see what ppl thought looked the best and worked the best.
Thanks

That's a tough one. The lids usually in the way. What kind of lid do you have. The split side load type or the full size lid with the piano hinge on the back of it? It's amazing how much range you get with the whip 2 ft. higher up, so that's a consideration, and you just can't add a longer whip without screwing up the match to your set. It always looks best with the whip on the center line of the truck. A buddy had the twin antenaes mounted one on each of the mirrors(old style truck) with the whips leaned forward enough so that at highway speeds they stood straight up. When parked, it looked like a bull with its horns ready to charge
