CB Antenna adapter

All,
I was looking for a adapter to replace my rf antenna with a CB antanna. I have XM radio and no need for a RF antenna. It would be nice to find an adapter to use with the current mount, but with new wiring.
Thanks

What connector does your "RF" antenna have on it? Another problem you will run into is the length of the antenna. Impedance should be fine since 50ohm is typical in audio transceivers. Are you talking about FM radio station antennas?

FM broadcast radio is right about 3 meter, CB radio is 11 meter wavelength. The antennas are typically 1/4 wave, 3/4 meter or 29" for broad cast radio and 108" for citizen band. I think your going to loose a lot of gain by using the 3 meter antenna for 11 or 10 meter radio.

I have seen boxes years ago that would run both 10 and 3 meter from a single antenna, but I think it was using a 108" antenna. If it were me, I would replace the 3 meter with a loaded fiberglass antenna. They make them just under 4' long, so they are only a little longer than a 3 meter antenna but should work much better.

I would think, takin the fm antenna out and placing a cb antenna in the same spot, would be cool. run a new cable for it and i would think you would be good to go.

You'll have to look around pretty hard but I have seen and even used these connector boxes to use the FM antenna for a CB antenna. I actually used one many years ago and trashed it pretty quickly, it sucked! Better would be to remove the FM entirely and replace it with a complete CB mount and CB antenna plus coax. You'll be so much happier that way.

I agree with big jim. Thats what i was tryin to say.

Completely ditch the fm antenna and replace it with a cb whip, in the same spot use a new coax and your good to go. Unless you want to keep the FM antenna, then put the whip on the other side. Just an idea.
