Hi Everyone! This is my first time posting on here. I have a 2004 Ranger Edge that I have to get rid of. I also have a 2000 Ranger XLT. I want to take as much off of the EDGE as I can and put it in the XLT. The problem I am having is in finding the Keyless entry module on the EDGE so I can remove it and put it in the XLT. Can anyone help me with the location of the module as well as anything else I may need to do to make it work? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I came across a very good tech article regarding Ford PATS, it came out within the past year or two and explains the differences in the systems through the years. It's worth looking it over, IMO. Go to this site:
I would'nt have thought that the PATS would have been part of the keyless entry system/module, but I guess it makes sense. Looks like you'll need a PCM scanner to set it up.

RKE and PATS are actually seperate systems, although they do share a lot of the same inputs and circuitry. I think it's important, though, to make sure that, if someone intends to start swapping out components of either system, then they ought to keep in mind how inter-related they are.
Also, according the the Tech Article, not all '00 Rangers got PATS, and those that did have a different type of system (seperate module) than the '04s (PATS module is integrated into the PCM).

I forgot to mention: the RAP module (which controls the remote keyless entry system and computer-operated lock/unlock/panic systems and is located behind the passenger kick panel on some '00 models) has been replaced with something called the "Central Security Module". The CSM's location is behind the passenger side airbag module (i.e., behind the RH side dash).
The CSM controls the remote keyless entry system and computer-operated lock/unlock/panic systems on the '02, and I would think that the '04 would be similar, although I don't know that for sure.
Thanks so much to both of you for your help. Although I didn't find the module in the '04, the hints about where it should be on the '00 model led me to find out that the '00 I have already has a Remote Entry Module in it and just needed a remote. So, I followed the programming instructions in the owner's manual and now I have one remote that works on BOTH trucks! Now all I have to do is figure out how to DE-program the module in the '04 so the remote ONLY works on the '00 truck. If anyone knows how to do this I would be forever grateful.

Just pick up another remote off eBay (make sure it's for the correct year) and program it for the '04 (make sure the '04 isn't parked anywhere near the '00 when you do the programming). Once that's done, your current remote will not work on the '04 and the "new" remote will not work on the '00.
The reason this procedure should work is because, when there is more than one remote for a single vehicle, they all have to be programmed at the same time in order for all of them to work. A remote that is not programmed at the same time that you are programming another remote will in essence become "de-programmed" with regard to that particular vehicle.
