I have a 2000 Ford Ranger with the Factory keyless entry. I want to replace it with a Ford system 6 alarm that adds more features but I need to locate the keyless entry module. I would like to put the new alarm system in the same exact place but I dont want to spend hours taking certain parts of the dash apart to find the module. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I know very little about alarm systems and exactly which modules are involved that you might be talking about, but here's what I can pass along:
1. The Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS ) control module is located behind the passenger side air bag module, above the glovebox. You have to remove the airbag module to get at it.
2. The Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module, which controls the keyless entry and computer operated locks systems, is located in the rear of the cab behind the drivers seat. You need to remove the rear interior trim panel to get at it.
Thanks, thats exactly what I wanted to know. I needed to know where the RAP module was so I could put my new Alarm system in the same place and possibly use most of the same wiring since I'll be installing another Factory Ford Alarm. I would have gone crazy looking for it without your help.
