i have a truck that was bought used and it didnt come with the code for the keyless entry. where can i locate the security module that has the code to reset it? it is a '04 f250 .
The code (5 digits) is on the keyless entry module, which is mounted on the firewall behind the radio. On my 05, I was able to see it by opening up the drivers side glove box, but 04 doesn't have that. You might be able to see it if you stick your head under the dash and shine a flashlight up there, otherwise you will probably have to pull out the radio to see it.
Also, it's not a code to "reset" it. The code on the module is the code you use to unlock the doors.
It helps to be a contortionist. While standing on your head, with your legs draped over the seat back, look up from under the dash towards the center of the forward firewall. You'll need a light. Way up at the top, hidden behind some insulation is a box. I don't remember if it's white or black, but it has a sticker on it with a bunch of numbers. The 5 large numbers are the code.
If that doesn't work, get the radio removal tools and pull out the radio. The box is behind it, hidden behind the insulation. It might not be directly visible, I have heard some people use a mirror.
