OD off button broke off

i have a '96 f-250 with a auto trans. the od off button broke off, i am woundering what is the best way to fix the problem. I am goin to replace the whole shifter. am i goin to have to take the whole column off? I think all that is holding the shifter is a pin, but where does the wiring harness plugin on the column? Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

No, you don't have to remove the column. Take the plastic covers off and you should see the shifter and the wires plug in somewhere close. I did one awhile back and it didn't take long at all.

the button has a ring of plastic that snaps on the end
of the shifter
pop it off then the switch will just unplug
three prongs on the end of the switch
real easy to do

i will take it apart tomorrow, i think all i have to do is take off the shift boot, the pop the pin, and unplug the harness where ever it is. thanks for the info.
