Mine was definately not fuel filter related. It did it before and after fuel filter change. Also, there was no smoke involved. It didn't miss or anything it just lost 80% of its power. When I had this problem, the engine idled soft and quiet (way too quiet!!).
Idling in park or N, I tried to rev the engine a little it would barely gain any rpm at all, even if I floore it!!
I still think (hope) it was a stuck EGR.
Had the same problem 2 weeks ago. No power no turbo. Waited for a few minutes on side of road and power came back. Looked it up on this site....EGR.
Dropped it off at dealer, told them it was EGR, called me to say there was no code couldn't be EGR must be the turbo...replaced turbo.
Had the truck back for a day and it did the same thing. Had the mechanic hook up the scanner and go for a ride with me.I got it to code and it was the EGR.
It was caked with all kinds of nasty crap. 50,000 miles on an 05.
Thank God for this site and thank you Ford for a new turbo.
