Yes, plugs right in without going into the harness, $195. The old DuraSpark2 was still doing Ok after all these years, but this Mallory Hyper6 starts up so quick and smooths out the idle so well that I may put one on the 351W in the SeaRay too. Here's a test and review on it.

Mallory includes two new 24" coil wires with it, but I don't understand why they were carbon core instead of the spiral wound wires that they said were necessary for the plugwires. So I made two new coil wires of the right length out of 8mm wire plugwire.

Carbon wire works better for noise supretion and give a hotter spark do to less resistance. Some thing to think about.

You switched that around, carbon core gets its RFI/EMI suppression by increasing resistance thereby reducing the current, i.e.: lower spark. It's early in the morning

What I don't get is that since carbon core cabling deterioriates over time and has more resistance/cooler spark why do Mallory and MSD and Magnecor say that realwire plugwires are needed to pass the hottest spark to the plugs but then supply carbon core coil cables with their kits? Both sell the spiral wound wire plugwires as their best product. Mallory says to use wire plugwires with this Hyper6 kit but then includes carbon core coil cables with it (!). Without an explanation as they haven't replied to my email question about it.

Is real wire best for plugwires and carbon core best for coil cables? That doesn't make sense, why use a lower quality conductor for either one, and a carbon coil cable that passes a reduced spark to the plugwires.

The truck is starting easier, idling smoother, accelerating quicker and towing a load better with the CDI and real wire. It didn't run well with the new CDI and the 17-year-old 8mm carbon core plugwires, but that could have deen due to their suppression/age/deterioration.

The radio isn't getting RFI when its on a station, it gets a little like usual when it's off-station that goes with the revs.

I want the real scoop and the best cabling (I got Magnecor's 8mm spiral wound wire which ought to be good enough for my driving): Here's article saying that wire is the best, where's articles saying the carbon core is?

Artic

Spoke with Artic a bit...Had to make it short because the courtesy van arrived for his beer run. He sounds good, but would enjoy any calls 907-789-5005 Rm #118.

I am sure he has much on his mind as far as the medical, and does not really have full access to the internet. Without a laptop, most hotels just have the terminals you can use at a cost per minute etc.

Let's keep his line ringing, and his mind off the doctors tomorrow.

Thanks Mike. That would be cool. Pretty darn lonely here. And scared to death of all that could go wrong. Will be back in the room soon and waiting your call.

glad to hear you're having a good recovery...

ahhh, you got the brown bottle prescription, that'll help the recovery too, at least it'll make the road to recovery a little quicker
