It still may not be as good of a job site construction truck as a f-150 (04 +) but i guarantee it is tougher than the 97-03 f150's. I bet if there was a ford badge on that titan you would feel different about it.
Just curious, how do you know the Titan is tougher than the 97-03 F150? The Titan hasn't been tested as these F150's have, being the F150 model you refer to has been on the roads for just over 10 years. Sure the Titan has more HP and lb-ft of TQ, but that doesn't mean it's tougher.
When I traded in my 2002 F150 SuperCab Lariat FX4 5.4L in December 2006, I test drove all 1/2 ton models available. I'll admit the Titan did have some amazing power, but the build quality was horrible and the materials used were extremely cheap.
My 2002 that was 5 years old at the time of these test drives, but I still felt the 2002 was a overall better built and stronger truck than the 2007 Titan. I'm basing the strong feeling on the build quality and material used, not based on HP & TQ. If I wanted only get up an go power, the Titan would have won, but since I was looking at the truck for longevity and being able to withstand a pounding, I felt the 2002 F150 and my new 2006 F150 were built a lot better with better material and better quality than the Titan.
So you may guarantee the Titan is stronger than the 97-03 F150, which it could be in some areas, but personally it didn't feel that way to me. Also keep in mind that the 97-03 F150 was initially built in 1996 as a 1997 model. So the Titan was built 8 years after the first 97-03 F150 rolled off the assembly line, but it did not feel like it was 8 years more advanced.
Maybe the titan is not appealing to you but if you are comparing one to your 98 f150 xl 4.2 Your little v6 ford may last a long time but it also doesn't have enough power to hurt itself either. The titan is only in its 3rd year of production but i can tell you first hand there is a ton of improvements on the 06-07 titans compared with the 04-05. Nissan found its weak areas and corrected them real fast. It still may not be as good of a job site construction truck as a f-150 (04 +) but i guarantee it is tougher than the 97-03 f150's. It will probably be easier for you to draw a picture for him.....actually probably not, I wouldn't want to waste your time.
Personally, I don't like the looks of the Titan and I'm sure it's "just as tough" as my 99 F-150. ( 5.4L I find a V6 in a full size truck laughable )
I've never driven a Titan so I can't say anything about it's performance. Nice exhaust tone though.

It's not a speed demon, but I guess you've never driven an older F150 with the 300-I V6. That thing was a stump pulling torque monster. I loved the 1981 F150 I had with it.
The current V6 is okay, but not in the class of the 300-I V6.
Sorry for hi-jacking the thread. Back on topic now.

Nope, haven't had any experience with the 300-I V6. My brother did have a 98 with the V6 and for pulling his trailer that V6 was working pretty hard espically with any sort of wind and it seemed he never really was able to get any better fuel mileage than my V8.

I Agree. The nose leaves something to be desired.....although back when I had a 95 F150, I thought the new gen of F150's (97-03) were ugly also. Then I test drove one and I was sold. On the same note I test drove my bro-inlaw's Titan a year back and I have been drooling ever since. Interior quality was leaps and bounds better than my F150, drove as smooth as a Chevy, and the power felt better than my buddies Hemi. The only draw back was that puny lookin rear end, reminds me of a Tacoma.

I had one, and it was slooooooooooooooooow!
Anything after 3200 rpms was useless. Durable as heck though.

Just goes to show everyone has their own ideas on style/quality. As I stated, I thought my '02 F150's interior felt/looked a lot better and was made of better material. While here is xtrford, who thinks the Titan interior feels/looks better and is made of better material. I thought the Titan drove just like my '02 F150, while xtrford thought it rode like a Chevy, which are known to have smoother rides than Fords. I do agree with xtrford that the Titan had some ***** and it did feel more powerful (seat of pants) than the Hemi Ram.
Not saying he is wrong or that I'm wrong, just to each their own.
they should be tougher than the 97-03, but still cant live up my my 1998. Ford badge on a Nissan Heck My V6 would take more weight in the box. My trucks a beast. Titan may have improved but who cares they gotta so they can sell at least one a week ford sells about 100 trucks an hour.

Titan was not marketed to sell more than 100,000 units per year, and as far as the build quality is concerned...the 2006's are as good as any 1/2 ton truck sold in America.
And I can't think of a Titan or anything else that could live up to your 1998 Ford, which must be unique in all the world. Since you have never researched or driven a Titan, your posts are only a lot of gibberish nonsense.
I've been a Ford fan for over 50 years, and presently own four, two 1963 Galaxies, and a 1965 F100 and a 2004 Lariat Screw both of which I purchased new. But because of growing health issues, I just purchased what I believe is the best vehicle made for me ergonomically, a 2006 Titan SE Crew Cab. It may not have the exterior/interior style of the Lariat, but the driving position is perfect for this geriatric sasquateched sized geezer, and that's what matters to me.

4.9L/300ci Inline 6? So whats wrong? Was it putting 300-I V6 when it should have been 300-I6?
Kinda..........since you used V6 TWICE in that first post, I was wondering if you knew what I or V even meant.
Meantime, while the durability of a 7 main bearing low revving, low HP motor is rarely questioned.....all the hype concerning power/torque seems to get greater as time goes on.
Being offered with a granny gear 4 speed for many years has certainly added to the massive torque urban legend.

Congrats Bill.................it takes a lot of intestinal fortitude to finally come out of the closet.
I sure hope the xenophobes don't organize a lynching party!!! (wrong hat!!!)

Maybe the xenophobes can start a letter writing campaign to convince Ford to add a telescopic steering wheel to an F150. Buying a Titan was my only hope to continue driving. I looked everywhere for a shop to add a telescopic wheel to my Lariat. Only one shop would undertake the project...the estimate was 5 grand minimum to add one from a Lincoln, which would have enabled me to keep the airbag intact. However, Ford Motor Co. said if I made this change, it would void the existing and extended warranties.
