Trouble codes

Hey Guys this is my first post at FTE, I am showing three codes on my 2000 F-250 they are
P 0470
P 0541
P 1280
I can't find any info on the 1280 code and the other two i am not sure about, is there anything to worry about.

Kinda, Not really, and Sort of.

The 470 is usually cause by the sensor and tube being clogged with soot - Front of engine tube runs from the Pass side exhaust manifold up to the sensor that is next to the heater outlet on the water pump.

541 is the intake heater and is generally useless even when working, most of us remove it to increase airflow. www.puredieselpower.com sells an eliminator for the code.

1280 is the ICP sensor it tells the PCM what the pressure in the high pressure oil rail is so it can command the IPR to increase/decrease pressure according to pedal input. This sensor is on top of the motor just inside the driver side head. unplug it and clean the connector also check for chaffed wiring going from the connector.

Thanks alot for the information, so i am guessing that the 1280 ICP is the same thing that the 10k is suppossed to fool which could explain that code. Now i noticed that the web site you linked has an eliminator for the 047x codes would thid be worth getting too, or should i just clean that sensor out? thanks again

I cant prove it but I believe the PCM uses backpressure to help calcultae fuel metering when mine clogged (backpressure reading very low) i lost 2mpg and as soon as I cleaned it the MPG came back. The eliminator just lets the PCM see an average backpressure value so it may not have as drastic of an effect.

If you are runnng the 10K that could cause the 1209 and 1211

not running 10k anymore it has been atleast 5 months, but that would possible explain corroision or chaffing in that sensor or wiring. I will try and clean the backpressure sensor, i have definately lost mpg, funny thing is this all started after i got it back form the dealer. Thanks for all your help.

P1211 = If set during normal engine operation, indicates engine is operating in open loop control and injection control pressure is above or below desired pressure. If set during KOER test, indicates ICP system failed step test and could not maintain commanded pressure.

The SES light came on as I finished passing someone on a two lane highway at the end of a long trip. So you could say it was during or shortly after a hard acceleration. I erased the code but I am not sure whether there is a true problem or the truck just reacted to that situation (which is a problem nonetheless I suppose)

Thanks, angain for all the help, is there a tech forum on the backpressure sensor, or maybe you could just tell me if i am looking right. There is a metal tube coming form front of Pass. side manifold if looking over tire. It is routed up to the front of the motor looks like it enters a sensor almost front and center of motor. Is the the correct, tube and sensor for my code? If so how did you clean it? Thanks

Thats it. The best way I have found is to remove the tube and spray with breaklean. let soak for a minute and run a 3' piece of .095 square weedeater line through it and work it back and forth. It may take a couple of soaks to get all the way through but once you are all the way through repeat it 3 or 4 times. On the sensor be carefull the membrane if fragile you just want to open up the "mouth" I used an awl and just made sure not to go very deep, you will see once you look at it.
