Question about fluid change on 1986 C6

Don't forget the torque converter drain!
Don't forget the torque converter drain. Pull the converter cover off and spin the engine CLOCKWISE (always clockwise on a MI diesel to avoid possible damage to the pump) by hand with a prybar or big screwdriver on the ring gear teeth. You'll see a small pipe plug and spin it till it's at the bottom to fully drain the converter.
I installed a drain pulg in my pan. You can buy them to bolt in or weld in (most auto parts stores). It's a convenience to be able to drain the fluid before pulling the pan and replacing the filter. Don't let the convenience make you lazy... always replace the filter.

13 Quarts and the filter is really a metal encased screen to keep the big chunks out. Just give it a good wash. C6 one of the best even against the diesel put a big cooler on her they were known to generate a little extra heat under load. My C6 is great put huge cooler on it stopped routing the fluid through the radiator and the temp rarely gets above 130.
