after many painfull years i had a spinal fusion in 89.two days after the operation i was walking around.the surgeon said that i could take some pt or walk 4 at least an hour a day.i walked about a mile a day and was back to work in four months.
I've tried getting my back fixed at home. I didn't have any luck. The exercises the PT trainer has me doing are working. My biggest problem is the fact I waited too long before I started the PT. It may take a few more wks but I'm gonna get my mobility back. The bad thing is as soon as I get my back right. I may need surgery done on my right knee. My doc said if I did need the surgery it would only take a few days to heal. Modern knee surgery is so much better than the old way. Man geting old has its downsides
Old is something I convinced myself to never believe in.
Now it's here. Now I have to wear glasses for anything close - and it drives me absolutely NUTS!
I never really thought about having to "Carry My Eyeballs With Me" in my pocket before....
I forget what movie it was, but I was struck by Sir Sean Connery stopping in a doorway and making the following check to see if he was ready to go somewhere:
"Let's see - KEY'S, WALLET, SPECTACLES, *********. Right then! Off we go..."

Well I finished the first PT session. My back is much better. The exercises worked so well I plan to continue doing them twice a day. I may join the local YMCA & workout on the machines too. Also I did find out my right knee needs to be checked by the doc. It keeps swelling up when I exercise too hard. I'll see the doc Wed & get it xrayed. I hope its nothing serious but I'm getting it fixed if it takes surgery. Its feels so good to be without back pain I want the knee pain gone too.

I know the knee will get better. It may require surgery. I've twisted it a few times & think it has torn cartilage. Heck I've gone this far & its working so why quit now. Plus I'm almost at my ins deductable so its fixing to cost me much less. My ins will pay 80% on PT & all my surgery cost. BTW Thanks for the support Rebel & everyone else
Good luck at the doc. I waited too long to go but I'm suprised at how much 4 wks of PT did for my back pain. I still have a little pain but its not the constant ache & stabbing pain I had before I went in. My back doesn't keep me awake at night now.I have worked hard at the PT & at home but its been worth it.

I went back to the doc today. He released me. My knee problem is called Prepatellar Bursitis. It doesn't need surgery & I can fix it by doing exercises at home. Its caused my the cartilige over your knee cap deteriorating. I can't fix it but by wearing a pad at work it should get better. I'm joining the YMCA to keep exercising & get rid of my gut. Thast should cure my back pain.

That's good news.. I go for a evaluation for PT tomorrow.
For a few days now, something has been KILLING me in my right forearm. Seems to be centered around the tendon coming from the elbow, but I dumped naproxen down my neck and kept on truckin'. It feels better tonight, and I definitely worked it hard today.
The body can be trained to recover.
I wish I had some pharmaceutical grade amino acids, but three tool truck accounts had to be paid so that won't happen soon.
