I tore my Meniscus back in early Febuary, went to physical therapy, then was transfered to a wellness center. It's owned by the same people and is much cheaper. They've really done a good job on someone pushing 60. I have very good days and bad days with the knee. I don't want surgery, I had surgery on the other knee meniscus, and it not like it was before. Has anyone else had success with physical theraphy? BTW the tear is on the inside of the knee.
I tore the meniscus, cracked my fibula or tibula, tore the ACL in half, and pulled the muscles in my calf last year. Therapy was a waste of money for me so I quit going until the doctor agreed to see me.
He told me if I have any pain to come see him for immediate surgery. He told me that the ACL and meniscus would not heal. He also told me that I would not be able to walk inclines without pain.
I was back at work a week and a half after it happened and am now over a year later. I work on roofs of all pitches and have almost no discomfort. I bought a bike and ride occasionally with my wife to keep the knee working. Maybe later down the road it may cause me grief, but if it were not for the MRI and doctor, I would say that the leg is 98 percent healed. No more pain than I had before.
My leg joints and back just always hurt.
This is a job I did a couple of weeks ago. I had 5 chimney chases to climb on top of like the one in the photo.

They were worried that mine might be a meniscus tear turns out I shreaded the patella r tendons and a couple of nerves.
Tried physical therapy but alas no avail although I could have told them I would need the surgery that the Army is denying me even though it happened on duty doing a daily work function no biggy.
Tater, As long as you were on active duty at the time of the injury they have no call to deny you the surgery. If you wish PM me and I can give you the run down on what to do. If you're coming up on your EAS then your best bet is to just not worry about it for now and go to the VA when you get out, I know they really treated me right when I got out. I do highly recommend that you go through the DAV though. Those guys are almost all Vets and they will move heaven and earth to help you out.
Yes my MEB is almost through anyway so I am just playing the waiting game I have an uncle who worked as the VA liason in washington dc for thirty years to help me with his connections when i am actually out.
I tore my ACL and the meniscus, had the meniscus removed through arthroscopic surgery and my knee has been much better the last 12 years for it. Before the surgery every time I would tweak my knee, which was often since I was still playing hockey, I would be unable to walk for up to a week, after the surgery it just made for a stiff knee for a couple days.
