Towing my TOOLBOX to Olive Branch Mississippi....

(Eight foot utility trailer)

If I had to guess, I'd say that little Ranger was pulling 600 pounds of tool box, and 700 pounds of tools.

GOL DANG, what a ride!

45 MPH tops, busted two straps on the way, even though I took all the tools out of the box and carried them seperately in a big rubbermade box in the bed of the truck.....

I have no clue what it all weighed - ask Howard, He's seen my boxes....

It wallered, it swayed, it BUSTED TWO TIE DOWN STRAPS!

I got it to it's new home by a miracle.

It was the longest week I ever spent in two hours....

With JACKDAWS driving like jerks in the front and the back.

I PRAYED for that box! It really IS my future.

I had visions of tools scattered for a mile all over the highway.

But it made it, so my biggest concern has been taken care of, by the grace of God. IT GOT THERE!

Tomorrow is my last day working for a corporation that hangs it's tail between it's legs and runs.

Later on I drove right back down there for a training session.

I have seen what school is like with my new employer tonight, and they have impressed me more than I can say....

All of this amounted to more than 250 miles of driving today.

My major worries are over.

THIS WILL BE GOOD!

Carry on. NEVER QUIT!

You got them moved thats good.I have no idea what they weighed. You needed a van like I drive to haul them. It would carry them easy.

I'm an RV Technician these days. If you TOW it - I can fix it. I also work on the big diesel rigs.

I reckon the box itself was around 600 pounds, the tools in it around 800 or so...

The tools rode in a big rubbermaid box in the bed of my 1/4 ton Ranger (Yeah. It SQUATTED) the box was on a ute trailer out behind.

Ever had your whole life and future in your rear view mirror with tiedown staps busting?
It was kinda like that right there...

SuncoastRV (from FLORIDA) closed the dealership in Memphis as soon as we got them out of the RED.

I had a job within 24 hours - but farther away.

THIS will give you an idea of whatall I had to transplant:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...6&postcount=24

The box on the right is right about exactly 6' 2" long. Two inches longer than my truck bed....

Howard has seen them at first hand - there ain't nuthin' small about them.

~ and yes, they are SNAPON

If you need to move those again give me me notice & we will put them in the van. It would be much safer & I know the E250 wouldn't even set down with them in it

I sweated it and got-r-done.

From what I have seen of the new employer it WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
My prime focus now is a high mileage commuter machine (that is racy).

A Turbo four cylinder Metro fits the bill.
1) Suzuki Swift with the four cylinder.
2) Chevvy SPRINT TURBO
3) Geo Metro trim and badging

I-240 commuters will never know what it was...

(neither will the insurance agency)

Well if you need my help all you have to do is ask. My boss doesn't mind me using the van. I just have to buy the gas. Its 12 ft long between the cage & the rear doors. I just need some warning so I can unload the tools.

Southaven II

The one on 78, at craft road. Turn off there, if coming from the north take the offramp, turn left, then right on Craft road and pass by American RV. It's a quarter mile down souther...

I'll top by & check out the new job soon. I make a Miss run at least once a wk. I'll try to come around lunch so you will have time to talk. We do several subdivisions in Olive Branch. Some are just past Craft road on Davision loop.

My tool box is about the same size but Matco. I hear ya on being nervouse and the visions of tools scattered all over the road. I moved it 35 miles on a tilt bed utility trailer behind my Focus. It had about 1/2 my tools still in it. I had 2 cheapy straps streched over the top of it and one going around the back. I was doin 70 mph till we hit traffic and that was when 2 of the 3 straps I was using decided to snap. Next time I will pay for a rollback. Much easier on the nerves.

I have a extra long E250 van. It would be great for hauling the tools & boxes. They would be inside out of harm.
