How many of you guys are running train horns. I see packages on EBAY 152db for around $225.00. Is anyone here using them and are they loud as hell. I was allready looking forward to cruising down Duvall St. in Key West with the 5" pipes, but C'mon. If I can shake the place up with train horns too that would kick ***. Has anyone ever seen the movie, Mother, Jugs and Speed from back in the 70's. This dude in an ambulance would cruise up to the street crossing. There would always be this flock of nun's crossing the street. He'd kick on the lights, rev the engine and hit the siren and scare the crap out of them. I can't have no siren and I can't have no flashing lights. But I can still rev the motor, and make them think a locomotive is coming down the street. So what do you all think?
damm straight, I'd be doing that in a heart beat, but the better half has already said "NO", just like the monster push bar that she is sure that I'm a gonna use on the fool in front of me.
The link that Alan posted is on my to-do list for this summer. There are a few guys here running the Seige Engineering setups. I've done quite a bit of research on them, and they seem to know what they are doing.
I have the Kong II setup from Seige Engineering. I LOVE THEM!!!! They are so much fun it's not even funny! Scarred the spit out of my Cummins buddies first time I blew them! They are mounted perfectly under the truck and are an absolute blast! Thanks to Fire Rooster for the info. Buy them. You will love them!
Amiller has posted the link for you. I am running a 120psi system with a 5 gallon air tank. And not one but TWO of the Anvil series horns on that system. Yeah they are loud alright and they sure are fun too!! Go with the seige engine set up you will definetly be more then happy!!!!!
Jason glad to hear your set up is up and BLASTING. glad to help
Here is the train horn setup I got from Eric. The compressor I got puts out 150psi and they are KILLER loud!! I have mine wired up to the "trunk pop" on my remote start, so when I push the little button..people think there is a tug boat or train in our parking lot. My office is 1200 feet from where I park the truck, so I go up to the second floor and blast away...when things get slow. Love this setup...you will too. Check out my gallery and you will see where I have them mounted UNDER the drivers seat with the compressor and tanks in front of it....I have it also wired into the horn circuit so when I hit the horn button, it triggers a relay and sends 12v directly to the selonoid...Awesome setup.

So I saw somebodt here streching nylons over the trumpets to keep them clean. Any other ideas? What would keep them from getting filled up with snow, ice and mud? It may be a dumb question, but how much forward sound is there? Meaning, does the horn sound like you're blasting from a distance, or just like your normal horn, where it sounds like you truck is sitting there honking? What I guess I'm getting at is could they be mounted facing backwards to keep the gunk out? I'm guessing no, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask for oppinions.

We have some kind of mesh over the horns on the locomotives at work to keep the birds out. Horn kinda makes a sick sound with a bird compressed in there. Nylon sure would help keep out the road debris.
Yeah, Fire Rooster suggested ladies pantyhose and thats what I did. I doubled up on each horn, for best protection. Talk about embarresing, buying panthose at the checkout line!!! Bought the cheapest they had, and then of course they lady at checkout had to laugh and gave me a hard time!!! I told her they were for the shop, and she said, "yeah, that's what they all say..." I got real defensive then, as she was being a bisnitch at that point... Oh well, I would have had the GF buy them, but wanted to surprise her about the horns, so I bought them...Wearing boots, and all Carhartt clothing spoke volumes in my defense, and saved me from certain "tar and feathering"...
Damn, the things I go through for my truck...............
