Yup the nylons work great. They don't hold back the sound by restricting air flow, they don't hold the water or mud in the material like any other cloth would, but they do a great job kepping that crap out of the horns.
Yes you can mount them backwards or in any other position. They are so loud everyone will here them.
Kevin, I think a set on your truck would be awesome. Blast those things on the track. It could certianly gain you some further recognition for your truck on the pulling circuit, which could be a good thing...more sponsors perhaps?
I cannot wait till I get a set mounted on my boat too. I already love the startled look of everyone when I trailer the boat and then hit the horn as I pull it up the ramp.
There was a beautiful custom F650 trailering a 450,000.00 dollar magicpower boat a few weeks ago that had a nice air horn on his truck, hit the horn before he pulled up the ramp. I have a nice truck and a nice boat too. (not as nice as his whole set up) But my horns were sure a lot cooler!!
I'm actually thinking about getting a cheaper set for my truck now, then in the spring upgrading the compressor and tank to something bigger and putting the cheaper pump/tank setup on the old Carver. I think it would be pretty cool to be able to scare someone into falling off the dock

I already asked for an early birthday present. I need to double check to make sure everything will mount nicely. Listen to the sound clip, I want that.
I am trying to remember who made that nice write up with pics and all of when they mounted their air horns. I would like to take a look at that again.
