A freind of mine who is a bit of a vigilante used to leave a bicycle on his front yard with a baby monitor in the bush next to it. Then he'd sit in his house and watch TV. He caught and prosecuted 3 or 4 theives that way. He worked retail in a store where I worked... He used to hide in the middle of the clothing racks watching kids in the store. Got one kid to wet his pants after he caught him.. (Had the kid's finger in a pair of bolt cutters trying to get him to name his freinds who ran away). Crazy guy, but the baby monitor might be a good idea, they're pretty cheap.
Clear the stored codes in the door opener. Install an ignition kill switch hidden under the dash - the switch must be turned on to start the truck.
6" lift & 37" tires? No wonder it caught someone's eye! I have learned the hard way that there is 'good attention' and 'bad attention'. When you do something cool to your truck & it attracts attention to it, there is always a negative side. Jealous punks always want what you have - and they wont stop until they have it or get busted while trying.
Here's a question- Anyone know how I can replace all of those factory manuals and information? Let me know.
Thanks
Getting back to your original question. I had the same thing happen when my truck got broken into. All the jackasses stole was my owners manual that was in the little zipper pouch. I asked a dealership about getting a replacement and they told me to get it from Helm Inc, that's where they would get it from. The link is below. My insurance company paid for my replacement. I even got a replacement zipper pouch with the Ford logo on it from Helm.
I believe the only thing you may have trouble getting replaced is the camper certification. It seems someone bought a truck a while back, and the certification was missing when he bought it new off the lot. The dealership would not assist in getting it replaced, saying that one is printed per and there's not way to re-print it again. I know that post was either on this board or the 6.0L board if you want to search for it, but I think it has been over a year since I saw it. Good luck
everybodys overlooking the fact that the keypad code can be changed quite easily from what ive read...if you are unaware of how to go about it let someone (me) know and i can send you the directions out of the beloved manual.as for the garage door. if its a newer model pull the cord so its a manual open and slide the locking bar in and slap a padlock on the thing and be done with it...i gotta tell ya it isnt worth going to prison for the rest of your life for a fully insured truck guy..think what you do if you run into these scum! good luck keep us posted!
Not if they stole the piece of paper that has the FACTORY code, that cannot be changed. Poor design on FOMOCOs part.
My mother in law is having a problem with her ex husband leaving things in her explorer while she is at work because he has the uncahngeable factory code memorized.
Some Good News! Recovered my manuals, Registration, Key code and everything in my owners book. That's not to say that they didn't write it down but I don't think so since none it was shuffled or even out of place from how I had it. At least I don't have to worry about getting a hold of all of the factory information...Whew.
Still they have some of my other belongings including the garage door opener, a notebook that I kept for work and an Ipod which was attached to the stereo through cable routed into the glovebox along with some little misc. stuff too.
Sad thing now is the insurance company is saying that I have to open 2 claims. One for the damage on the vehicle and a home owners claim for the non-auto items.
As far as attracting attention goes that's going to be tuff not to do. With the 6" lift, 37" BFG's, 17" Welds and a brand new Warn SS Brushgaurd and 16.5ti winch I guess I might as well paint a big round target on both sides. I'll keep y'all posted of any new devlopements. Mr .44 would sure like to see them come back but I hope they don't.
Correct....you can ADD a new code and then you can use either one to get into the vehicle. Gotta have Ford go in with their Star tester to change the perminant code. I believe that is covered by your comp insurance.
WOW! That is: lucky..where did they find your stuff? Bet they didn't know what they had! I'd still go to Ford and have the Factory code changed.

I got a call from my insurance co. that had recieved a call froma good samaritan who had found this in alleyway behind her place. She left her number with them and they gave it to me. I called and went right over and picked up. Ended up about a mile and half away from my place. I tipped her 20.00 and thanked her. Because none of info looks like it's been touched, I know they didn't know what they potentially had. A smart thief would have been utilizing this info. Ooops there are no smart thieves, only POS's that will someday pay for there actions... C'mon Karma Baby!

Suzuki is absolutely right on this one. Stop trippin' and fantasizing about blowing .44 mag holes in a .10 cent POS tweaker thief and just change ALL of your codes. No big deal. Consider yourself lucky that ALL of the missing stuff can easily be replaced via the internet or a visit to your dealer. BTW the reason the thiefs did not finish the job (GTA)is that they were probably interrupted by something, got spooked and split. I would not just stand pat and wait for them to come back as it may be 6 months from now when you will have clearly let your guard down. Good Luck!!
