I finally am going to do the lift kit on my 2004 4x4 6.0 Ex here as soon as I get my tax money back!! How many inches of lift must I go to fit 33x12.50-16's on? Also am considering 35x12.50-16' or 18's, how much lift to fit 35's?? Please if you are guessing I don't need any guessing, I need to know the facts since I am going to purchase this lift here very soon!! Thanks in advance for all your input.

I am kicking around the Fabtech 3.5" spring hanger kit which retains the stock springs and ride or the 5.5" kit. No to the Donahoe kit, too much money no matter what any of ya say!!

 

I just installed a ProComp 6" kit last weekend found the kit at 4wheelonline.com fpr $800 with free shipping. This kit will allow 33" or 35" tires. I wanted 35's however because I am keeping stock rims I am going with 33's to keep it safe... but with this kit I can always change my mind and add 35's later. Another reason for 33's is that it won't affect gear ratio as much.

Do you plan to do it yourself? I did and I can offer some advise if you want it.

 

Why again are you going with 33s? The 33s and the 35s are the same 12.50 width. The width is what you have to worry about, not the height. I would reconcider putting either of those on a 7" wide wheel. The smallest I would go is 9", I have 16X10 Eaghle alloys.

A 6" lift you should be able to fit 37s. I think I could fit 37s on my F250 with 4" lift.

To the original poster I would go with a leveling kit if you only plan on 33s. Or go with a 4" Sky Jacker lift and go 35s.

For a 16" wheel its a 305/70/R16=32.6". 315/70/R16=34.6". If you go to a 17" wheel you can get a 33/12.50/R17 or 35/12.50/R17.

 

Scottsman70, i put a four inch kit on with 33 inch bfg all terrains on stock rims. Its 2wd thought. Pics are in gallery if you want to see what it looks like.

 

I have a 6" lift on my X with 315 75 16 BFG ATs. The 315 is very close to a 35" tire. I think the 35 looks a little small with that amount of lift, I think 33 is going to look much too small.

My tires rub ever so slightly at full lock, it's probably a matter of personal preference, but with a 6" I'd go to a 37" tire, or 35s with a 4 or 5 inch.

I went to that web site where you bought yours, looks good. I went to Pro Comps web page and read up a little bit, I noticed that Pro Comp says you can fit 35x12.50's with their 4" kit.............I think I will go this way. Did you do the 6" just to get higher or is that incorrect info about the 4" lift?? Just curious, I only want to go just enough lift to get those 35's on!!

How difficult was the install??

 

i have a 6"procomp lift and 35" tires on my 05 x and it still rubs alittle in tight turn on slope . i would not go with a 4" lift if 35"s is what you want and a 6"lift with 33"s is way too much.

 

Yes Procomp says 35's will fit with either their 4" or 6" but with a 4" I think it would be a tight fit... would prob look nice however if you really plan to wheel the truck I don't think it will leave much space for wheel travel especially in turns. I think it depends on if you doing the lift more for looks in which case I'd say 4" is fine... it your looking for functionality I'd say 6" is the way to go.

In my case I plan someday to install new gears, lockers and 35's. For now though I cannot afford all that so it's 33's for me... I will post pictures when I get the new tires. I don't know how 33's will look but they'll certainly look better than the stock 265's.

 

I generically used 33's but actually I am planning 295/75/16's which have a
recommended minimum wheel length of 7.5". They are 33.4" tall but only 11.6" wide.

 

Took me 3 days... did it all myself. You need to be in good shape lifting the spring packs into place takes some muscle. You'll need to make sure you have a oversized pitman arm puller, I purchased one from Autozone before I started but when the time came it was to small. You'll also need a grinder ... the center bolt that holds the rear spring pack together will be rusted and will need to be cutoff. They only way to reassemble the springs is with a spring compressor so make sure you have one. The front track bar mount stripped a bolt and I had to replace it.

All in all it went well however it did take me longer than I tought it would and by the time I lifted the last rear spring pack into place I was out of strength I had to use jacks.

You'll need to get a front end alignment right after the steering wheel will be 180 degrees off center.

If you're not a gear head I'd take it in though... the procomp directions make everything seem real easy and not every detail is explained it's assumed the installer is knowledgable.
