Bought a 2000 Limited v10 with 140K miles. Is there a way to tell if my tranny has ever been replaced or rebuilt?
I had the same situation & questions . My fluid looked like new, no odor . The tranny performed flawlessly . I pulled the pan & found a sizeable buildup on the magnet, no chunks of clutch ,very little aluminum dust . The filter held no foreign material .
So I came to the conclusion that it probably was power flushed & the pan never dropped. I can't belive it was a rebuild , due to the fact the magnet was never cleaned . The deposite on the mag. was almost 1/4 '' hi. Material from the steels I believe ,which I'm told is normal with 125,000 miles on it.

Just wondering if there's some trick to telling if the tranny has had a major service performed on it. Can I look for serial numbers or liquid gasket squeezed out somewhere? Maybe some certain tool marks that give away an overhaul?
I know that if it was rebuilt it will say "remanufactured" on it somewhere with the most current model year (at the time) somewhere near it. If all else fails, an OASIS report will reveal all.
