Check the axle code on the door sticker or, check the tag attached to the differential. It is usually on one of the bolts for the cover or the pumkin.

If you can give me the numbers off of that tag, I can de-code it for you.

You have an 8.8" axle with 3.55 gears on an open carrier. As long as you get an 8.8" axle from an F-150 or Bronco you'll be alright. Before 1983, all Broncos and F-150's came with a 9" axle, which looks different and isn't available in the same ratios. Close, but probably not what you want. After 86, they all had the 8.8".

Top Number is S838B S=Sterling Plant, 838B=Plant Code
Bottom Number, 355= 3.55 Ratio, 88=8.8" ring gear diameter
3802 3=year, 8=month, 02= day of manufacture.
Hope this helps you.
