I know what it means, but what does the acronym stand for?

It's french, and I don't know the correct spelling. The english translation is: " Respond if you please"
"Responde sive vous plaite"

According to Laverne & Shirley it means "respond so very promptly".
Don't know why I remember that but it gives you an idea of how old I am!
