2000 F350 4x4 Not Engaging
When I bought the truck it had the Shift on the fly auto hubs. I changed out the hubs to manual. Needless to say it has been working fine until now! Hubs are locked, shift on the fly changed to 4x4, dash reads in 4x4, axle spins but the front end isnt engaging. No movement in front tires. Where do I start? Need help asap..I am stuck at home without my 4 wheel drive!!! HELPPPP

With truck in 2wd lock in the hubs and go under and try to spin the front driveshaft. Its not supposed to spin at this point cause its paired to the front wheels. Now flip the switch and the transfer case should engage if it doesn't try low range..Both hubs have to be locked and engaging to get this all to work. Transfercase shift motor may not be working.

So I know for a fact the front end isnt engaged cuz I got stuck at Mt Bachelor and everyone told me to put it in 4x4..and did I lock in the hubs cuz the front tires were not working! The right hub was dificult to lock in. But we did get it to lock(but didnt engage the front). Needless to say..the hubs have been locked in and yesterday I did what one person said and that is see if the joints turned. Left side no right side some play. Unlocked the hubs both turned fine. So I went and tried the shift on the fly and the right hub again would only turn slightly. Tried backing and going forward etc... Still would free up. NOW transfer case thinks its in Low 4x4 and the dash indicator reads its in 4x4 LOW!! So to me it looks like the hubs were toast but now I have "confused" the transfer case. Any ideas? I really would rather fix this myself..thank you all for your help. There have been several issues I have been able to fix such as door locks, some sensor(dont recall)but the truck would cut out and die, and my overhead! Great site!

Its not real hard to work on. What hubs do you have? Get warns if you don't.
Jack up one wheel leave the hub unlocked the wheel should spin fine without the axle. lock that hub in and turn the wheel the axle behind the wheel should turn also. Try doing this to the other side and see if you have a bad hub. Thats a start. As far as 4x4 low make sure its in nuetral with foot on the brake. Read the manual on operation.
