Alright....call ME stupid......I thought the gasser 250s and 350s nad 4.10 or 4.30 gears in 'em........thought only the diesels had the 3.73s.
OK, you're stupid.
My 5.4 came with 3.73 gears.
I guess I am not quite sure why everyone is up in arms about this rig. Excluding his engine, isnt this the same truck that can tow 15,000 pounds easily? Doesn't it have the same suspension, axles, steering and brakes?

I'll take it.....People don't expect as much from you when you're stupid....
I feel it's not the weight it can tow, it's the "combined" weight that I have a problem with. Fill the trailer up with water, food, and all the other goodies, load the family and other stuff in the truck and go roll over a CAT scale, and see what you weigh. Then go to the FORD dealer, show them the weight ticket and ask them if you are over weight. I'm sure the truck can tow a bunch more weight, hell my 64 F100 can tow that trailer, but would I?
The reason the NEW super dities have a higher tow rating than your 02'...in 2005 Ford put a new frame and brakes under them....and other things as well. The fram rails are from the 550 for all super duties starting in 05. As well as a new transmission.
READ the posting from Ford I put in.....it tells you. There are all kinds of resources here to answer questions about buid...towing capacities. Ya don't need to ask a damn salesman...they are born to lie.....well most of em. I was one...for a short time.

That's a shortbed?.....I guess they CAN pull a 5th-wheel.......I've heard the long-bed recommended for this.
Any other misconceptions you "gurus" can point out to me?....(haha)
Good luck to the original poster....That DOES look like a bit much for the truck....
I learn something new every day
I pull a 32 ft Jayco 5th wheel with my truck and it's an 2006 6.0 Extended Cab Shortbed..........I have a slide hitch installed in mine. Works just fine as long as you pay attention to what you're doing.

Come back and talk to us after towing that thing up and down some hills for a while. That 5.4 is gonna be wiped out from all the screaming it has to do and all that screaming is gonna put a hurting on that 4R100 as well. An F-150 could pull that rig around for a while as well, but it would take one hell of a beating doing it. Manufacturers put weight ratings on for a reason. Realistically you are probably not overtaxing the frame of the truck or the brake system, as the F-250 and F-350 have the same system. And yes the pin weight is included in the trailer GVW figure. The pin weight is just to tell you specifically that, how much weight is being placed down on the pin, same as tongue weight, so if the trailer total GVW is 11,385 that is the total weight loaded. Even 4k over weight is alot.
