i have not run it enough miles to report a difference yet on the performance end or the milage issue when i get to refill the truck then i will repost thanks for the concern
i does seem to be a little bit better as far as power i think it does build some power it still has to shift on small grades to keep the speed up with the 4 place enclosed trailer but not as bad as before it still revs to 3-4000 rpm to build it's power but it is building it. still no codes and still geting the 6-7 mpg unloaded
around town stop and go as of this past week figuring by miles traveled (and yes i have checked by mile markers to check mileage for accuracy) by gallons to refill so last fill was 30 miles on odometer and 5 gallons to refill to full (full by gauge reading and fuel coming out of filler neck)
You need to do a longer run than 30 miles! You may need to make a special trip. Get out on the hwy and drive streight though at least 100 miles (50 out and 50 back). with only thirty miles there are to many varibales with idle time and such to get a good accurate reading. Also I realize your fillng up to the filler neck (I do the same) but this is often times a cause for less mielage as many vehicles will leak out excess out the vent. I don't know if the SD will do this or not. Also I have found you need to fill at the same pump facing the same direction as some pumps will have the concrete leaning one way or another and this will affect how much you can get in there for throwing off you calcs, especially on only 30 miles!

I've told this story here before, but I guess it bears repeating. My brother in law owns an electrical contracting business. He has 6 V-10 F-250 and F-350 trucks from 99 up to 2005. All are 4WD, some crew cabs and some supercabs. For some reason the 2001 supercab V-10 is a dog. It will barely rev, makes no power and gets bad mileage. He doesn't care enough to try and track the problem down but every new employee has to drive the 2001. He will not, his favorite is the 99 crew cab dually.
A few years ago there was more than a few guys in here with similar complaints. Sometimes it was a fuel filter. Sometimes the ECM had to be re-flashed. Or the MAF was clogged or dirty. But I don't remember a time when the problem wasn't found and rectified. I think his Y-pipe is constricted or smashed. That's how it feels, or a bad catastophic converter maybe ?
towed with the truck today and yesterday and after i changed the thermistst cleaned the maf sprayed the throttle body the truck was awsome at 55-75mph on the freeway towing my 3 sleds left one home and the four placed trailer the only problem is when you are towing in the rural towns and you hit a hill at under 55 the trnny seems to go into lock up and takes a little to get it kick down to the lower gear especialy at say 35-40 miles an hour really a pain in the a$$ when trying to keep your momentum other than that it is a rel beast after the thermastat was changed it made a huge diff it seemed to run real low in temp and burned alot of gas when not idling and unloaded i am getting now 10-13 mpg so not to bad thanks everone for all the help and advice it is greatly appreciated
