od is off everone on the other thread said don't waist money on the gears
Everyone who has 3.73's and tried to tow with them has complained, either about power or gas mileage. Those with 4.30's do not. You figure it out As MadMedic said, some people have no clue about gears. Going from 3.73's to 4.30's means 14% more torque to the ground. That's a BIG difference.
We've heard of a few catalytic converters getting clogged in the '99-2000 range, based on mileage and age. You might want to check that out.
Besides all that, there is something seriously wrong if you're getting such bad gas mileage.
no idea on why pcm reflashed fuel filter just changed fuel regulator no idea miles are 120000 dealer has said that the plugs were just changed but i don't know if i beleave them or not!!!!!!!
I have 3.73s and 285s and the combination is fine up to about 10k lbs, when I tow both the boat and camper I'm 17k-18k lbs and I can hold 70mph up 6% grades, it does use 2nd at 4100rpm to do so but it does it without complaint! You have other problems, like someone else said, don't regear it untill you get everything else solved!
were do i start on finding the other issues do i take it to the dealer and a computer hooked up will put me in the right direction or what do i do to get the help i need i don't want to spend a ton of money ie 75 dollars an hour to find it is a 50 dollar part unless needed
krewat when you said that there is something seriously wrong with the truck and it's gas milage what exactacly did you mean please any help would be great

Just that if the MPG's are 6-8, and you're not hotrodding it, something is out of whack. it shouldn't be that bad.
Sure sounds like a fuel filter. I know mine was night and day difference when I pulled the bad fuel filter off. More power, revs faster, and better fuel mileage. I know you mentioned that it has been replaced but for under $10 (don`t forget the special tools bout $8) you can have peace of mind that it is new and working good. Just my .02
first just changed the filter right after problem with towing no difference. next i read post gerard 350 on the ddeisel post stating that he had the problem after he had his pcm reflshed or updated could this have something to do with any of my problemshis thread was a while ago in oct. it was called dealer recalibration causes huge loss of towing power any help please
on the flats the truck will rev up fine and pick up like h$#@ but under any load a hill or towing that is were the power loss is or it will shift down on the smallest of knolls which it did not seem to do untill the reflsh was performed may be i am reaching for a answer but that is what it seems like i maybe wrong
