Okay i have been getting some really weird creaking sounds from what sounds to be the front of my truck when braking. Its only for the last 10-15 feet before i stop and also when im not braking to hard. If i get on the brakes hard it goes away. No its not the rotors or pads, i just put brand new on the front and rear. I think the front wheel bearings might be bad, but when i jack up the front end there dosnt seem to be any play in the wheel... im out of ideas or solutions for this problem. Has any body else heard the noise im trying to describe. The squeak does pulse like if it where a warped rotor but im 99 percent sure its not. Any ways hope sombody has some input.
Okay... i sanded the rotors with a hight grit sand paper to give them a rough surface and i cleaned them with brake clean before i put them on.... it started doing the squeaking as soon as i put the brakes on and maybe even before but im not sure, and braking wise they are hard and it stops better than it did before i got the truck... so im leaning toward wheel bearings but i have know way of knowing... when i jack the front end up it dosnt have any play in the wheels
You said you put some good pads on that creates less dust. The factory (OEM) are semi-metallic, I think that is the difference. The silicone pads are vibrating until you get on the binders hard, which stops the creaking-to-a-stop. It sounds like a call you may have to make creaking vs. dust???? Me ... I have to wash my rims monthly. Do you still have your old (metallic) pads? May reinstall them and just ride a day?
