Question 99 EB Creaking/squeaking noise from front passenger side??

Hi all, I am new here.

Have a 99 EB 4x4 Expedition and the last few days have this weird creak/squeak. When We step on the running boards to get in its a loud creaking "jumping on a mattress sound." (for lack of a better word) Every little bump in the road and it squeaks.

Also, when turning the wheel from side to side, you can hear squeaking in there as well.

It sounds just like these ones in these videos:

I am not mechanically inclined and don't want to be taken by an auto shop. Hoping you smart people will have had a similar problem and could help

Well no one responded to my thread but thought I would report back in case anyone else ever had the same issue.

It ended up being the passenger lower ball joint. Creak/squeaking completely gone.

Thanks for posting that up. I have been waiting for a response cause mine is doing the same thing. Good to know I'll put that on my to do list.

Yeah it's the ball joints. Ford uses very light duty front suspension components that generally wear out pretty quick. Hopefully you did all of them. The dust boots crack and disappear and let contaminants into the ball joint and the grease washes out, ball joint killer.

My 98 did the squeak from both sides up front...very noisy and embarrassing..hahahaha

This is not a "real" fix, but will get me by until I replace the front suspension (doing everything, so saving up).

I purchased a needle fitting for my grease gun...was like under 5.00 at AAP. Stuck her on my grease gun and inserted into the rubber sections of the ball joints and pumped away until I was satisfied.

Squeak and creaking is gone....if I am not mistaken, the stock joints are not serviceable...when I replace them, I will make darn sure the new units have grease fittings.
