I installed a new down pipe. Old one had insulation, I assume to keep the heat off the tranny. New pipe comes within about a 1/2 of one of the transmission lines. Should I try to use the insulation off the old downpipe to wrap the new one with or not worry about it?
Use the old insulation. My pipe came too close to the tranny line too so I just remolded the old stuff around the new pipe and secured it with Stainless steel safety wire. Other wire will work too but might rust out. It works good, I used an infrared temp gun and not much heat gets past the insulation.
