I added the factory 2004 hood insulation to my 2007. I don't know why i waited so long.
After getting 2 newer vehicles I noticed the truck was a little loud. The insulation made a noticeable difference in the in cab engine noise. Installed in about 5 minutes.
Also got a 3.5" Gibson polished tail pipe that is 18" long. Really pimping this thing out!
I've been thinking about doing this but for $175 I think the aluminum faces adhesive backed sound deadener might be more cost effective. how thick is the factory hood liner?
I noticed the factor liner is indented above the coolant recovery tank. I wondered if those aftermarket kits that plug the holes with insulation bags would rub on anything when you shut the hood.
You could always go the salvage yard route. I've had luck before with painting old insulation with flat black paint. I just didn't want to invest the time to find a used one.

yea I think the after market stuff is too thick to go over the coolant tank.
how many plastic push pins (Christmas trees) did it take to fasten it to the hood?
