Inside of front tires wearing?

Both of the insides of my front tires are wearing out extremely quickly in comparison to the rest of the tires. My grandad said something about the king pins needing replacing?

Could it be the king pins or should I just get the truck rebalanced and aligned? Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

These trucks don't have king pins (havn't since about '52), however you do have something worn out in the front end. Most likely, the ball joints are bad on the bottom. Replace all 4 when you do them. It is a common wear part and last anywhere from 75,000 to 150,000 miles before they go. Get it fixed, it won't get better on it's own.

Yes your balljoints are bad, or the axle is bent. Most likely not though, but im guessing balljoints. Jack up one side of the truck at a time, and push and pull on each top and bottom, and see if there is play. Any noticeable play means it's bad, go with Moog greasable joints. My left tire is cambered in too and the top ball joint has a tiny bit of play.

I Don't No What Year Truck You Have But I Have A 99. Bought It New And The Front Tires Worn Off Three To One To The Back Ones. I Put Michilin Tires All The Way Around And Have 70,000 Miles On Them Now. I Rotated Once. Factory Tires Suck. Spend The Money For Good Ones. Check The Ball Joints But Mine Where Good One Self Check. Good Luck Marry Christmas!

I'm pretty sure it is the ball joints b/c there is some play in the front tires and I have been noticing a popping noise when braking lately.

That being said I am going to buy some and replace both the upper and lower ones. However, the guy at NAPA said he needed to know if I have a straight axle or twin beam? How would I tell? I have an 01 F250 crew cab 4x4 lariet 7.3L PSD.

The two wheel drive trucks have a twin beam setup, and the 4wd trucks have a solid axle.

If You Are 4x4 Your Axle Is Straight. Twin I Beams Can Have All Kind Of Problems. You Must Tell The Readers Your Exact Truck It Is Not Posted. Good Luck!

My $.02 too much toe in from bad alignment. Possibly too much negative camber,, but best guess is too much toe in.

Besides I am too cheap to look to replacing parts first when they can be adjusted. FIND A GOOD ALIGNMENT SHOP.

Have a nice day.. Jim

if you have bad parts get them replaced. probably ball joints. could also be toe out of adjustment. I would get the front end checked and repaired then have an alignment done for good measure. Also have your tires been rotated? Tires should be rotated every 5 to 7k if not they will wear uneven even if you have a tight and properly aligned front end.
