Changed fuel filter (pic) is this bad?

Gosh when I compared this to the new filter I was a little surprised. I think this was replaced about 20k ago (before I had the truck).

Is this normal? That sucker is black!

I hope the attachment works...

Wow, that engine must have felt like it was drinking fuel through a coffee stirrer..

I've never ran one over 10K but mine are always just a light to medium grey when I swap em.

That's a lot of miles to put on a filter. I wouldn't worry about it's appearance.

Along those lines, how often do you change? Manual says 15k for towing service but after reading stuff about injector costs I'd figure it's cheap insurance to change more often...

Where do you get your filters from? I bought this time from the stealer and it was $$$$$...

Last one i changed looked like that with 7k miles on it. I had gotten some bad fuel, and being the second time- it broke the camels back. I did the hutch mod. I used to change my filter every 10k, but from the info I have gotten, I should change them both anually now.

My cousin just changed fuel filter out of his 97 F350 PSD and that thing was slimy black!!! Kinda like it was an oil filter....his mpg went up a good 4+ since then.
