Can anyone advise me as to where to go from here? Had the code pulled at Auto Zone and not sure where to begin. First off, which cylinder is #2? Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Check the plugs and wires, if those are fine it could be the ignition coil.
I've had the same thing happen on my 97 f150 4.6 and my 97 expy 5.4 turned out to be a bad ignition coil on the 150 and a bad cop on the expy. Its pretty simple to fix.
If you're getting up there in miles you're probably due for new plugs and wires anyway.
As long as you have extensions and universal swivels for your socket set and don't have coil on plug ignition its not too bad.
Since i've been out of the loop for 14 yrs --- what is the best suggestion for a all-round good shop manual? Buy Ford, buy hard back or CD/DVD .... or what?
15 yrs ago, the choices were Factory, Chilton or Haynes.

I've always bought either haynes or chiltons for all my cars, whatever the parts store had in stock. I have a haynes I bought in 96 when I bought my f150, I use it for both my expy and truck.
