Im using a suspended type gas pedal with a Lokar cable. The attachment parts come with the cable. Depending on what pedal arrangement you use you may need to add a bellcrank to change it if the direction of movement at the pedal isn't correct (push when you need pull or vice versa). There may be a picture of the gas pedal and cable from inside cab view in my "making changes" gallery from when I was changing the pedals. OOPS, nope just of the gas pedal that was in it when I got it.
The floating type pedal is easiest since it's like a teeter totter: pivot mounted to the floor, one arm with pedal on it below the pivot, one arm to the cable above the pivot. Push down on the pedal and the arm pulls the cable back. Drill a hole thru the firewall in line with the end of the arm for the cable and attach to the carb throttle arm. Add a clamp for the cable near the rear of the engine so it holds the cable in line with the throttle arm and yer done did it!

Gas pedal

I too have been in the process of mounting and fabricating the hanging pedals for my '50 F1.

What I found was the best approach was to experiment with various systems that suit your set up.

Everyone has just a little different vision for their project. I councilled the forum, tried different suggested options, then finalized on what I thought best worked for my truck. I am using the modified stock linkage for my 5.0L Crown Vic throttle linkage; Explorer gas pedal and hybrid F150 brake pedal, with modified length and stock pedalwelded to offset pedal arm.

I will post pictures soon in my forum.

Tom

??? I just checked Summit, Lokar 36" Universal throttle cable 32.95. You could likely use a shorter one, mine ended up ~ 18".
Scrounge a late model gas pedal you like, or find one at a U pull or on ebay, or pay the postage and I'll send you the Ford late model I took out (the one in the pics in my making changes gallery). I needed a specific rare pedal set, and it cost me 50.00 for the three pedals from a specialized recycler.

thanks , let me get back in touch if that's o.k. . i am in the process of installing a firewall mounted master cylinder out of a ford explorer and fabricating the needed brackets to connect the pedal bracket back to the dash panel for the extra support so that will keep me busy for awhile . the parts that the guy from lokar suggested that i needed were FMG 6098 , TC 1000HT36,KD20C4HT, SRK4000. those are what the total of approx. $250.00 came from . just thought i would give the part #s because you had all those ??? s lol . as for shermy 2296 you are probably going to have to make something to allow the use of the factory pedals . the factory used rods etc and the efi stuff is cable operated which i am sure that you are aware of . the pivot area (push verses pull ),that is probably going to be tricky . i didn't get the impression from talking to the guy from lokar that they were making anything to hook these two but i could be wrong it might be worth a phone call . keep us posted.

I am using the stock 56 accelerator pedal with new repro linkage (modified to fit correctly), Lokar cable and a Edelbrock carb. It took a few minutes to adjust and has worked great.

I think the factory pedal works/fits better then most of the aftermarket/other automotive brands ones that I have tried.

The brake is a 79 ltd 11 hanging unit with the stock round 56 pedal.

I just replaced the stock unit with one from a '78-9 pickup. Just had to do a bit of heating and bending. The holes line up oddly enough.
