I am using a Lokar throttle cable assembly on my Holley 4 barrel on the 5.0 L engine in my truck and I am having problems with the bracket mounted on the carb flexing so I am not getting full throttle.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I have checked the mounting of the bracket on the carb and the throttle cable down to the Lokar floor mount gas pedal and all is mounted right but I am getting way to much flex.
Lokar stuff is usually good quality and definitely pretty, better than most. But, on occasions, they are prettier than functional. It may be a case of a bracket needing to be made from stouter materials. You may simply need to make your own replacement.
If it is flexing I bet you are at WOT prior to the pedal being on the floor. That extra strain will bend or brake the stoutest bracket. Adjust the cable so the pedal is on the floor at WOT and you will not bend anything.
Thank you for all the replies, thought I had checked everything with adjustments so far but will try again this weekend when i have help.
Hard to step on pedal and check cable travel and such from in the cab, besides this is my daily driver and I don't want to immobilize it at all until the weekend in case i have to run for any parts.
