We have a 66 that the accelerator cable broke where it attaches to the gas pedal.
I need help with instructions on how to un-attach the connector on the carb and how to attach the replacement cable to the gas pedal and the carb.
any help is greatly appreciated!
Welcome to FTE. It would be helpful to know what kind of engine you have, although if it is stock, then the throttle and carb connections appear to be similar in the 1966 Ford Truck factory shop manual. Your truck could have come with a 352 V8, 240 I-6, or a 300 I-6. Since it's nearly 50 years old, some PO may have put a 302, 460, or who knows what else in it. If you can get hold of the factory shop manual, pages 10-17 and 10-19 show the linkage for I-6 and V8 respectively. Essentially, it's a ball and spring loaded socket arrangement. All you have to do is carefully pry the socket of the throttle cable off of the ball on the carb throttle, and perform a similar operation on the gas pedal linkage. In the latter case, it will probably be easier if you disconnect the brackets from the firewall, which you've got to do anyway to replace the cable. If your setup is not stock, let us know what you have. Good luck.
