Well installed my 4" mbrp exhaust and love it so far. Only problem is that it is rubbing on the cross member bolts and I have tried pushing it up and over and all sorts of stuff but can not figure out how to get some clearance there so it will stop virbrating on those bolts. Last thing I can think of is take it off and hit it with somthing to make a little indent to clear it but didn't want to do that to my new ehaust untill I got some input from you guys. Any and all input will be great and thank in advance.
Losen all the exhaust clamps. You will need to position the down pipe before the midpipe will clear the crossmember bolt. Also helps if that mid pipe is fitting a bit loose so that you can wiggle the downpipe a little more. It takes patience, young grasshopper.
a question about your vibration. when do you hear it, constantly? or when shutting off/cranking your truck.
i ask, because i just installed a MBRP 4" exhaust yesterday on my truck. now i have a weird noise that i cannot describe, but i can hear/feel it when i shut it off, and sometimes at a low rpm. i noticed mine is almost touching the bolt on the crossmember, but i'm not certain its vibrating against it is what i'm hearing. sorry i'm of no help, but i thought you may be experiencing the same thing. and it started right after installation. any info?
A 5" pipe needs to be dented a bit but if the DP is aligned correctly it should clear with room to spare.
my 5" vibrates on them bolts too.only on idel thow drives me nuts..maybe the heat shield by the trans as well..(what did you do there alan?) i painted mine black with stove pipe paint..dont want to go beating on it so i thought id use grade 8 carage bolts in the cross member...any thoughts on that??
On Marks pipes the first section of 5" has a dent in it to clear the bolts. If it is not clearing check to make sure the DP is not binding on the ground bolt on the rear of the block you might need to rotate thet DP back a tad. Now the heat shield bolts hang down and should be ct off flush with the hanger nuts (3 in front 2 in back).

thanks alot alan..i did cut them bolts strait up into the shield..and my dp isnt realy hitting anything right now..like you said its a tight fit..ill try to play with the dp more but i got things prety close with it now not hit any any thing...its just where the cross member is..it eahter hits the bolts or the shield..its more the clamp right there that does it on the shield right by the trans line..i thought about removing it but was afraid it would make things too hot on the trans...
One place to check close is the back washer on hangar FS2 sometimes there is not enuff pressure on it and it will rattle against the hangar bracket at idle. A little permatex adhesive gasket compound and no more rattle
Wow thanks for all the replies. That is what I thought in that you guys put 5in pipes through there so a 4in should have no problem. I will go and look at my dp tonight. I asuming I just need to tilt it up some to bring all the pipes up? And and answer to sideshow's question - yes at first it made a weird noise in the cab and like a deep drone all the time, then it started to vibrate so when I got down to inspect it I saw it was close to the cross memeber, and with a glove on pushed it away and held it while I had somone rev it a little so see if it went away and it did so I knew it was that and then tried pushing it away from it and it moved a little so I thought I fixed it but then all it did was make it rattle now when I start the truck and a little while at idle, but a lot when at idle but in gear like at a stop light.
