Just Updated Edge Programmer
If you plug it into your computer at the house it will tell you what version you have. Just make sure you return the truck back to stock first. If not you will erase the stock program from the Edge and then you'll have problems. After you plug it into your computer it will have your version at the bottom of the screen. Oh and just an update.... This is even better now! It is really sensitive to the throttle pedal! It will smoke the tires with the least little throttle input now. I tried to jump in the back of a Denali last night on the way home!
Plugged-in
I guess it makes sense, but I just read where you keep the programmer plugged in? Where do the wires run? Oh, and if you buy one on ebay is it still covered under warrenty? Heard the diablo wasn't!
Firemutt it doesn't sound like you even looked at the Edge programmer. Yes it stays plugged in. It has a full gauge package that comes with it. It has a pod that goes on the dash and the wire runs behind the left side of the dash and plugs into the OBDII port under the dash. Installation takes all of 10 min total and this time includes taking it out of the box. Go to www.edgeproducts.com and check it out. Look under Evolution
I think I need a tuner and I am getting close. My 06 truck has 3500 miles on it and its paid off. That one hurt a bunch, but I didnt like the crappy deal I worked on my financing, so waiting to spend any more money.
Anyway SCT has a livewire that is evolution-like. They claim around 20 hp and the edge claims right at 30. The edge has overwhelming popularity on this board.
One note, looking at rear wheel dyno peak numbers for the 5.4 3v and the 4.6 2v are about 5 apart. Dont know what the rpm range for that, but what gives anyway. I'd like to see a 100% bone stock 5.4 3v on an engine dyno. I'd bet 2 out of 5 couldnt hit the 300 hp mark.
My MPG is good, but I just dont feel 300 hp of pull, which is why I want a tuner.
Couple more questions. Will the edge compensate for an intake and exhaust, because it seems that all new ford tunes are very sensitive to mods from the v6 stang to the 5.4 3v. Will it lean out or will it be good with an edge?
Also what kind of gains should be expected from the non-premium fuel tune?

I've read about the specs but never the installation instructions. From everything I have looked up on it that is(installation) the "only" place it states that you keep it plugged in. Again, it makes sense, just never thought about it. Thanks for the info.
