Hey guys....99 350 crew w/ 190k been running good for a bit, especially since i have changed out most of the mechanical issues, but now it has gone electrical.
There are 2 fuses, one for the brake lights and one for the turn signals that will blow after a few days...both at the same time. Any ideas what might be causing this? Not even sure where to look.
Odds are one of your taillight bulbs has shorted to ground... sometimes when the insulator inside the base gets moisture in it or some other malfunction. That would be the first place to check tho, and make sure moisture isn't getting in where it's not supposed to be!
I don't think it does but the turn sigs do. I'm about to go outside so I'm not gonna look it up right now. May be a connection as they are the same circuit/bulb if I am not mistaken.
Man that was a quick edit. My post looks silly now.
Thanks guys....i guess i'll try looking in the steering column.....don't have a wiring diagram, but i didn't think the brake lights were wired up through there.......or am i wrong?
cool...many thanks! I figure what i'll do first is start the truck and turn the steering wheel side to side to see if those fuses blow.....then i'll know it is that.
