sometimes you might have to get to the heater core they will suck anything and everything down there so could be that it is stopped up also these fans are not the best on these old beast

Well my fan works awesome, it blows perfectly. Its just that it was about +5 outside the night I bought it, and it was about a 10 minute drive home...and not alot of heat was coming out, maybe I'm just because paranoid. I'll bring it on the highway to get a sense of where the heater core is at.

If it is 5 degrees F. outside then it will take several miles to get warm. When it gets that cold I put a piece of cardbord over 1/2 of the radiator and watch the temp gauge.

10 minutes is not enough time for the engine to get warm unless you are really working it.
Working it that hard in the first 10 minutes of running at 5 degrees would not be a good idea either though.

Ok I tested it out properly, I got sufficient heat coming out of the vents. Seems like the heater core works great after all.
