1986 heater function door
hey guys. i have an 86 f150 and the heater function door seems to be stuck. the heater works and works very well. the problem im having is that no matter what i do to it the heat only seems to come out of the vents. if im not mistaken the heater on this model of truck should be default to defrost if something is wrong with the vaccum system. the question i have is is there a way to get to that heater function door without pulling the entire dash assembly. i have the capabilities to do so just would prefer to do it as quickly and as easily as possible.

It could also be the blend door hinge. They are plastic and very prone to breaking, which would mean you will have to take apart the dash to fix it.
You should be able to tell by reaching under the dash and manually moving the door.

It could also be the cable for the blend door is pinched on its path to the engine compartment. Mine was difficult to operate and it was pinched in a tight area by the radio antenna wire. Take the dash cap off and take a look.
