I won an auction on EBay earlier this year where the seller was looking to con me too. He posted pix of the car taken in 1998. When I told him that I was driving to San Francisco to see the car and I was bringing a cashiers check he got froggy. He wanted me to wire the money into his account instead. So I went to see the car which was obviously worn out and rusted after 8 years of outside storage in SF. I told him no thanks and he was indignant that I did not want to buy "award winning Ford." So for me, if the seller asks for a wire transfer I will be thinking RIP OFF. I hope this story on the 54 has a happy ending. Jag
Guys GREAT news!! , the truck as we found out is in Acton CA and will be tilted out this Friday your time, to make it to Long Beach for shipping to me in Australia.
With all hope gone a few weeks ago to the outcome we see today,I really need to express my sincere thanks to a few guys namely "imlowr2" Edward Krebs and Colonel Flashman both members of this site.
Ed went way above all expections for me corresponding with all partys concerned, driving to different sites, ringing different people, and organising truck for collection and making sure we had all the necassary information, and Flashy is working on some paperwork at his end and digging around about my man Harley Dow Green.
So to both of you guys, Hopefully one day i can repay you both, I really do appreciate all your help and trouble you went thru to help me all the way over here in Australia.
It would have been very easy to not get involved, but it just shows the character of both these guys, as Steve Irwin use to say " Top Blokes".
I will be sending both guys something for there efforts, as a small token of my appreciation.
And what a great place to be apart of the FTE forum and the people here deserve a real good stamp of approval.
Again, Ed and Flashy Thank you !!
Way to "Pay it Forward" guys. Sounds like a happy ending. This temporary hickup in Grabber's truck restoration will make for good stories. I look forward to the name he puts on the truck. (2nd Chance, Vanished, Grand Theft, No Con, Etc.) Jag
I appreciated the kind words from Grabber. It's been quite a haul searching for this truck and locating the people who had possession of this truck. To say the least, it seemed that this truck wasn't to be found. I can't even begin to imagine the relief that is on Grabber's mind (and his wife's also). Even though he's thousands of miles away in Australia, I know he's thankful for my efforts in finding this truck. All I can say is it is a very good feeling on my part to have located the truck and know it'll be on its way to the rightful owner. Grabber is a gentlemen and a really nice guy, and now a personal friend of mine. I'm glad I was able to help him out. Justice has been served! (the seller) is still going to get his. I'm looking for you Harley..... Smile!
interesting another buyer has given him neg feedback on a truck he purchased around the same time as mine. Same issue different Brand.
Harley is fine, living in the Hills area spending our money no doubt.
Despite not being a Calfornia Guy myself, I too [like so many others by the number of views!] have been following the plight of Grabber's ebay purchase with interest as well as pride and admiration for my fellow FTE'rs .
Ed & the Colonel deserve our praise and acknowledgement for "raising the bar" as good samaritans and ambassadors for this group.
I suspect we're all proud of you two as well as happy for our Aussie cousin Grabber!
Good on ya all. It really "takes it to the street" and puts all the "good words" posted here in to action
GW....up in the other Ca.....Canada
(this kinda turns my byline on it's head 'cuz the colonel & Ed
thought locally & acted globally
