99 ranger 4.0 pinging

99 ranger 4.0 pinging
hey guys
my trucks been pinging real bad lately. so i tried checking for vacuum leaks
( sprayed everything with carb cleaner) and found nothing.
codes read lean bank 1 and 2. i've cleaned the mass air. but still pinging.
today just for ****s and giggles i disconnected the mass air and the pinging was gone.
i'm at a lose, any help would be great.
