no totaly stock motor wiss besides kwikks fuel pump mod.........by intermitant i mean it did it a while ago around christmass where the turbo wouldnt whistle and it would have no power then maybe after a while of drive it would come to life and then i had a couple other problems so i havent really been running it untill now and the turbo worked fine possible not as much power as it should but still much better than when this is goin on.... so i replaced the cps due to some hesitation and long starting period and took it for a test drive and now it started this problem again the no power and no turbo noise
You need to check and see if you have any codes stored. Could be one of the many sensors going bad or bad connection to one. Could you have a restriction in the exhaust system. Muffler, Cat.?
i wouldnt totaly rule out an exhaust restriction because i have seen crazy things but i wouldnt see where that would come from and how would it give me an intermitant reoccuring problem...
You havent run your truck since christmas? Do you get your fuel from a favorite dealer? When my ebpv was stuck, it ran like it could never warm up in the winter, like a gasser. If all else fails, like recommended, get a diagnostic test run.Thats what i still need.LOL Hope it soon gets better!
thanks marvin i hope i get it straightend out soon too.... must keep looking and hopefully with all the great support and knowleg of everyone here i will
I have a '99 6-speed and during cold weather the waste gate sticks open and when it does I have the same symptoms as you are describing, no power and no boost. Usually it only lasts a few minutes and then the gate slams closed and away we go. But on occasion I have had to turn off the truck and when I turn it on again it is usually ok. I think your problem sounds like the waste gate but I know nothing about the waste gate, linkage, etc.
If interested, I think my gate is freezing. It usually happens after driving to the mountains to go snowmobiling after which we park for 5-6 hrs under freezing conditions and that gives all the moisture in the exhaust a chance to freeze on the gate. And after the engine warms up it usually unthaws and closes. If not I just have to turn the truck off and back on, I don’t even pull over for this, and this usually solves it.
it sounds like you have the same problem... like the wastegate isnt spooling up the turbo and it has no power but i had the problem on a 80 degree day and it didnt fix it by restarting the truck... i got to keep looking
i had this same problem and it took me awhile to figure it out but im sure you have already checked this. When i was working on my truck i knocked off the turbo vacume line and it acted exactly like your truck is acting hope you fix it but just check it it attatches from the firewall to the turbo
