5.0 Engine Dying
Today when i started up my truck the RPM's were lagging behind the gas pedal. it was a one second or so lag and i figured i could make it back to my house. as i drove, i began to feel a thump as if i had something attached to my tire the engine slowly lost power until it stalled and i wound up on the side of the road. I have a 1990 Ford F-150 with 4wd. I think it may have something to do with either the transmission or the fuel lines but thats about all i know. this is my daily driver so i really need to figure out what wrong in a hurry.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

pull codes, even if there is no check engine light something will get stored. to do so check otu www.fordfuelinjection.com for instructions how. its easy and will take 5mins. check your fuel pressure at the rail, might replace fuel filter if its been awhile. did it run out of gas maybe? do you hear the fuel pump kick on?

I havent pulled the codes but i have found out that when i shift into a different gear it doesnt happen, it also stops lurching when i take my foot off the gas. does that help home in on what it could be?
