But back in March I had a heart attack. I have spent the entire summer going to the doc, doing every test known to man. Yesterday I had a double angiogram (where they stick a wire up you veins to your heart from your groin) with an electro-impluse study. I went into de-fib twice and had to be shocked back to normal rythmn. Man am I sore today. I have holes in both groins, one in my neck holes in both arms from IV's and where the shock pads were, two nice second degree burns from the shocks. I am going to have to have surgery soon.
Has anyone else out there had heart stuff happen to them?
if i ever see anyone come at my groin area with intentions of putting a hole in the arteries again, i will put a hole in them with my 45. it has been 5 months now, and i still hurt from that damn procedure. but i am alive and kicking like a mule again, so i guess it did work.
The way your post reads, it sounds like you've got a great attitude about the whole thing. Is that true? Perhaps you could reflect a llittle on it: do things taste better? Do sunsets seem more beautiful? Do you appreciate things a little more? (a la "Live Like You Were Dyin'")
Well as for me, I have always been an avid outdoorsman. I love fishing, hunting, snow skiing, camping, traveling and sight seeing. So to me the sunrise is beautiful every morning. And sunset, with either my woman in hand, or my fly rod a working, well ya just can't beat it. I love life! I just gotta get this damn ticker back into shape. Most of mine is genetics. My Mom had three heart attacks. And my Dads side of the family had several people die from it. I am lucky, because tecnology has got to the piont, that I have a much better chance for long term quality of life. It is still damn scary at times though

i agree. since the valve job, i can breathe allot easier, and the blood pressure went down so much that i dont need to take those drugs any more.
Yessir, I was referring to Smokestone, but it is good to hear that you both have that attitude. I wonder how much of the quality of life has to do woth a positive attitude??
well, i do have an attitude, but i have been told it is a crappy attitude for so long that i can't tell if it has changed or not.
really though, my outlook on life has changed dramatically in the past few years.
i used to live life to the fullest, never worrying about anything. that led to a broken neck, and alcoholism to relieve the pain from the neck injury. and the alcoholism led to a feeling of invincibility. after i buried my best friend due to drinking and smoking 5 years ago, i quit drinking and smoking.
the doctors claim quiting drinking and smoking 5 years ago saved my life this spring.
and i now pay attention to my health and don't let the little thing bother me, because whether we believe it or not everything WILL work out in the end.
and if it don't work out, oh well. doo-doo occurs.
Well, I haven't had the issue yet but my only blood sister is going thru the wringer right now. She said she felt real bad and had no energy, heaviness on the chest area, so she went to the doc last Wednesday. Monday they will start with the ballon thing for her blockage. If that doesn't work then they try the spring gizmo to hold the artery open. And if that doesn't work, we're talking by-pass surgery. It has the entire family really screwed up. We lost my cousin back in Feb. and we buried our stepmom just two weeks ago. It has not been a good year. I'm real glad that you guys are handling your issues so well. It isn't my problem but I'm a wreck over her. She isn't handling it any better. But looking at your posts has given me some reassurance that it is survivable and hopefully she comes out of this a winner. She is the church secretary so there are a bunch of good folks praying for her. Thanks for the timely post. It has helped a bunch.
I had a quad bypass over 10 years ago. I had never had a problem so it shocked me into taking better of myself. No problems since, but I will be at the gym tomorrow.
Hey Flash, you hang in there man. The fact that your Sister caught it BEFORE a heart attack is so, so much better that after one. I can tell you that tecnology is so much better than when my Mom was going through this just eleven years ago. Angioplasty's work well these days.
I will Keep her in my thoughts. Keep the faith brother!
