I have the Stealth box (floor mounted console) and am very happy with it, nice quality, fit and it sounds good. Because of the raised console it can shake around a little bit, it does not bother me but I thought it worth mentioning. If that was a deciding factor I think the mount brackets could be reinforced easy enough and take care of the shake. This box gives you nice fill in sub bass, do not compare it with 2 10's of 12's in a box, but it does sound nice.
I have the stealth box in the center console. It's the only way to go in any vehicle they offer it in. You will not be disappointed unless you are some competition car stereo person.
I just built my own stealth box out of MDF/Fiberglass to mount in the front seat area.
About two days work 100.00 for materials and 120 for a Jl 10w1v2 sub sounds awesome. Didn't want to spend almost five hundred for 1 10 inch sub is a little ridiculous. I had a thunderform in my silverado and has no where near the thump of the JL running the same amp.
Now all I need is a 4 channel amps and some seperates.
There is a pick of the box in progress in my gallery. I mimics the front seat.
Depending on your truck setup you can fit a 10" kicker sub (in stock box) behind the rear fold down seat of the CC. I did it and it was very reasonably priced, got the speaker from ebay and the amp too. Plenty of woof as well.
Just a thought given the expense of the types your afre looking at.
I have the center console stealth box. It is good quality and impressive sound. How yours will sound is all depending on the amp that powers it. I originally had a 5 channel Alpine V12 amp. I went back for repairs twice and I had enough and baught a JL audio 5 channel Slash amp. It was very pricey but worth it.
The JL Stealth Box will run about $6-700 installed.
Another one for the Stealth box. Bass comes from the middle of the cab, right next to you, neat idea. It's not going to wake up the neighborhood, but for an old geezer like me, it thumps very nicely. Probably overpriced, but it is JL quality.
This is a bit of an unfair comparison. MTX isn't in the same class as JL Audio. MTX is what you buy when you can't afford JL Audio. MTX is a good speaker, but it won't be as clean, durable, or be able to handle the same power as the JL Audio. But, you'll pay a premium price for the JL Audio. If you can afford the JL Audio, get that. And make sure you power it with an equally good amp.
Thanks for all the input. I'm not looking for competition sound, just clean sound. I hate distorted thump.... so if MTX is decent clarity I wouldn't mind doing that, but I'll probably just bite the bullet and get the JL.
I ran mtx equiptment for years and thought it was pretty clean, great bang for the buck, its not like pyle, rockwood or any of the other garbage companies
